While the pandemic has created new challenges for PhD students in many institutions, the School of Languages and Applied Linguistics at the Open University (UK) continues its training.

Critical Discourse Analysis Summer School (12-16 August 2019; €600; 2 ECTS)

The aim of DNS5 Summer School is to discuss theoretical frameworks, methodologies and methods of political discourse analysis in the context of diverse information channels in the global digital space.
DESIRE, the centre for the study of Democracy, Signification and Resistance (www.researchcentredesire.eu) is happy to invite PhD students to submit proposals for a one-day PhD masterclass on discourse theoretical approaches to politics, society, communication and media. The PhD masterclass will take place on 6 February 2019 in Brussels.
Today’s world is marked by different forms of power, inequality, exploitation and exclusion. Global inequalities on the level of international political economy as well as more localised inequalities and inequalities along the lines of race, gender, social class and other social categories affect people acting in different social contexts and taking symbolic positions through discursive practices.
