Ana Sofia Souto holds a Doctor Europaeus PhD in Text and Discourse Linguistics from NOVA FCSH (2026), graduating with the highest honors (Muito Bom). She completed her Master's in Language Sciences and her Bachelor's in Portuguese Studies at the same institution, receiving the "Merit and Excellence – Best Master's Students" and "Merit and Excellence – Best Bachelor's Students" awards. She was the Portuguese representative in the 16th edition of the Jóvenes Líderes Iberoamericanos (Ibero-American Young Leaders) program in Madrid and developed an international academic path through grants, Erasmus+ programs, and research/study stays in several countries. During her PhD, funded by a fellowship from the Foundation for Science and Technology (ref. 2021.04523.BD), she founded the research group “Entre Textos: Transatlantic Dialogues in Text and Discourse Linguistics,” promoting scientific dialogue between researchers from Portugal and Brazil. Her research interests focus on Argumentation Studies, Discourse Analysis, Critical Discourse Analysis, Linguistics and Human Rights, Protest genres and discourses, as well as discourses of resistance and contestation in colonial and post-colonial contexts.
