ECA Fribourg 2017 2nd European Conference on Argumentation: Argumentation and Inference

The European Conference on Argumentation (ECA) is a pan-European biennial initiative aiming to consolidate and advance various strands of research on argumentation and reasoning by gathering scholars from a range of disciplines. After a successful 1st edition held in Lisbon in 2015, ECA will be hosted in 2017 by the Department of English at the University of Fribourg, Switzerland. While based in Europe, ECA involves and encourages participation from argumentation scholars all over the world.

2nd International UCM Predoctoral Conference on English Linguistics (UPCEL): Language in Society

The organising committee of the 2nd International UCM Predoctoral Conference on English Linguistics (UPCEL) are pleased to invite predoctoral students in English Linguistics programmes, including both PhD and Master's degree students, to participate in our second instantiation, which will be held on September 20, 21 and 22, 2017 at the Facultad de Filología, Universidad Complutense de Madrid. This conference is organised by the PhD Programme in English Linguistics of UCM, which has consistently maintained an Excellence Distinction by the Spanish Ministry of Education since 2004.

I-mean 3, Identity and Language Conference

The third i-mean conference will address the relationship between language and identity.
Following the imean tradition, we seek to explore ways in which researchers can fruitfully work across methodological and disciplinary boundaries. We also welcome scholars from other disciplines who have an interest in the links between language and identity.
The conference aims to explore whether and to what extent bringing together different methodological and theoretical approaches can:
- Enhance understanding of identity attribution in interaction
