Navigating Truth and Post-Truth in Discourse: theoretical and practical implications
In an era where the lines between fact, opinion, and misinformation seem increasingly blurred, this panel will explore the complex dynamics of truth and post-truth in contemporary discourse. Experts from fields such as education, philosophy, politics, and communication are invited to analyze the shifting landscape of truth in public conversation, examining the role of social media, the rise of alternative facts, and the impact of ideological echo chambers. What does "truth" mean in a world where misinformation can spread faster than facts? How can we engage in meaningful dialogue while navigating the challenges of skepticism, manipulation, and polarization? Join us for a critical conversation that seeks to understand the changing nature of truth and the theoretical and practical implications of contemporary controversies over truth and post-truth. This panel will offer insights into how we can reflect on the perhaps undertheorised epistemic dimensions of discourse.
