DN Elections 2026
Voting for the 2026 DiscourseNet Association elections will start during the 2026 General Assembly and run (online) for one week. The 2026 General Assembly will be held online in mid October. At the General Assembly, the current Board will report on their past term. All candidate teams will be presented. A recording of the key information will be made available online.
DiscourseNet was founded as the International Association for Discourse Studies in Paris in September 2019, with three Representatives (President, Secretary, Treasurer). Elections are now held every three years. The current Representatives were elected in October 2023 with Benno Herzog as President, Aurora Fragonara as Secretary, and Michael Kranert as Treasurer. In 2026, after three years, their term is coming to an end.
The charter documents that were created at the inauguration of the DiscourseNet Association in 2019 in Paris explain the election process in more detail (see https://discourseanalysis.net/DN or https://discourseanalysis.net/sites/default/files/2019-09/DiscourseNet%20founding%20documents.pdf).
Candidate teams
How to announce candidacies for the 2026 DiscourseNet Association elections
A representative of the candidate team should contact Felicitas Macgilchrist by sending an email to elections@discourseanalysis.net. The message should include all information the candidates wish to share with voting members. Please note that each candidate team should include candidates for three functions: President, Treasurer and Secretary.
Felicitas is independently coordinating the election, and will post all candidate teams on the DN election pages. The final deadline for all candidate teams to submit their intention to run for President, Treasurer and Secretary has been extended to 31 September 2026. If you would like the information to be shared at the ALED-DN2026 conference in August 2026, make sure to email Felicitas before 31 July 2026.
How to express an interest in joining the future DiscourseNet Board
If you are interested in joining the future DiscourseNet Board please contact any of the running candidate teams once their candidacies have been announced. The DiscourseNet Board will be confirmed and appointed by the elected representatives. The Board also has a term of three years. Previous board members may, of course, continue in the board.
How to vote for the upcoming DiscourseNet Association elections
All DiscourseNet members are encouraged to vote. The elections will be held online, and hosted on Balotilo. A reminder with the link will be sent out in October 2026 via the DiscourseNet mailing list.
All DiscourseNet members can take part in the election. Once the running teams have been announced, an invitation will be sent to all members with an individualised link from "Balotilo" (our chosen election tool) to participate in the online election. Members who did not receive an email, are invited to contact elections@discourseanalysis.net so that Prof Felicitas Macgilchrist, the designated election official, can seek a solution.
Please feel free to reach out to Felicitas with any ideas, questions or suggestions you may have about the process or if you wish to run as a candidate team.
DiscourseNet looks forward to your participation!
