PhD candidate in Social Policy with the University of Edinburgh.
My research area is family policy and within that I am interested in welfare subsidies for families in particular in relation to care and housing. I am generally interested in Central Eastern Europe, Hungary in particular, and family development from a historical perspective and how the past informs the present.
My work examines how language is used in family policy to address fertility concerns, in what context, time, and space. I take a look at how the “need for children” is negotiated by the government to the public via public and social media platforms. Collectively, I look at the historical construction of motherhood against fatherhood in relation to population crisis from an interpretivist perspective.
