'The Rise (and Fall?) of Grey Radicalism'
The discourse of grey radicalism finds its meaning in vehement rejection of environmentalism and environmental concern. Climate change denial is just one manifestation; identity politics is central. Grey radicalism draws on right-wing populism, extreme conservatism, nationalism, and (in the USA) evangelical Christianity, though it is not reducible to any of these. It differs from an older Promethean discourse that celebrates human domination of nature, in (among other things) grey radicalism’s rejection of the market if the market determines that (say) renewable energy is preferable to coal. In the US, grey radicalism can be associated with broader cultural wars. I examine the rise of grey radicalism – and the prospects for its fall.
See you there
