PhD (2021) in Applied Linguistics. I am a discourse analyst whose research interests lie in the pragmatics of language use in the digital space. A large body of my work focusses on the usage of the non-standard third person pronoun ta in various discourse types on Chinese social media. Recently, my research has taken a more social orientation and is concerned with how identities and ideologies are reflected in digital discourses as a result of language use and third person reference forms in particular. I also work in Japanese and Korean.
