Decades after formal decolonisation, anti-colonialism and anti-imperialism have remained a wellspring of inspiration and contestation. Studies about anticolonial thought, the 1955 Bandung Conference, and transcontinental solidarity movements have proliferated in academia and activist networks, providing the basis of theories and practices of resistance in contemporary times. Nevertheless, the ideas and the movements they inspired did not perish with the epoch that produced them.

We are pleased to announce the call for proposals for the 2026 Positioning Theory Research Conference (May 30 – June 3, 2026), which will be hosted by the Faculty of English at Adam Mickiewicz University in Poznań, Poland. The conference will be entirely on-site and in-person.

In addition to regular research seminars, Aston Institute for Forensic Linguistics runs a series which sheds light on forensic linguistics from an interdisciplinary perspective. The next in the series is the Forensic Linguistics and History Symposium on 7th November 2025, 13:00-17:00 UK time.
The Sixth Helsinki Conference on Emotions, Populism and Polarisation (HEPP6) will be held 18-20 May 2026 at the University of Helsinki and online. The call for papers and panel proposals is open until 31 October 2025.
