In the week of January 10-14, 2022, the VU Amsterdam Graduate Winter School will offer an online course (3 EC) on “Gestures: How to analyse forms, functions, and meanings”. It is intended for those who have no background in gesture studies but who wish to learn more about communication by studying speakers’ manual movements in relation to spoken discourse. The course will be taught in English and will be conducted via Zoom. Registration is now open, and there is an early-bird discount for those registering by Oct. 1.

Organizer
The course will be led by Prof. Alan Cienki (Director of the MA program in Multimodal Communication at VU Amsterdam and of the Multimodal Communication and Cognition Lab ‘PoliMod’ at Moscow State Linguistic University).
