This one-day symposium explores general tendencies in populism and populist discourse across Europe as well as within a series of national settings.

Keynote is Benjamin Moffitt, author of various publications on the populist phenomenon including the book 'The Global Rise of Populism'. In addition, this symposium offers a discussion of the 'authoritarian populism index' of the Civismo project, as well as a series of presentations that offer a variety of discursive perspectives on populism prepared by Maarten van Leeuwen, Nicolina Montesano Montessori, Esperanza Morales López, Jan Zienkowski, Miguel Ayerbe, Oscar Garcia Agustin, Dámaso Izquierdo and ruth Breeze. As such, the symposium brings together a variety of linguistic, performative, discursive and sociological perspectives on populism-related phenomena.

The symposium is open to last-minute registrations for attendance. Attendance is free of charge but we cannot offer any reimbursements. If you are interested in attending, please send an email to Dámaso Izquierdo Alegría (dizquierdo@alumni.unav.es).
