My interests focus on how in the moment-by-moment and overtime cycles of activity in classes and other social spaces, participants construct (or not) ways of knowing, engaging in, interpreting what is being discursively constructed.  The center of my work is an approach that colleagues and I have developed grounded in ethnography of communication and interactional sociolinguistics that we frame as Interactional Ethnography.  In and through in time and overtime studies with linguistically, socially, and academically diverse participants in educational spaces, we seek to explore issues of access to educational processes within and across disciplines and years of schooling.
