Juan Bolivar

Juan Bolivar is an artist and curator, Lecturer in Painting at Camberwell College of Art, UAL. His paintings negotiate the tension between meaning and form; combining elements from to investigate intertextual relationships between hybridity, language, abstraction and popular culture. Bolivar's work often re-enact seminal painting such as Kazimir Malevich's 'black square' or his late period; using this context of interpretation to create new meanings. As an independent curator he has worked on over 40 exhibitions with a focus on inclusivity, multidisciplinary practice and polysemic cultural dialogues.
