My academic background is in gender studies, sociology, comparative religions and philosophy. Previously I held Lecturer and Scientific Associate Position at the Institute for Sociology, Goethe University, Frankfurt a.M. In the framework of my doctoral research, I conducted a qualitative study among internally displaced persons (IDPs) which focused on belonging and gendered nationalist discourses about homeland. Before my doctoral studies, I worked as a researcher and practitioner in the field of gender, human rights and faith-based peacebuilding in Bosnia and Herzegovina, Kosovo and Serbia. In my current research, I analyze how EU policies and gender-sensitive procedures to asylum continuously appropriate and transform the dominant gender order and norms to address issues around emplacement and integration.
