I am the founding president of DiscourseNet (2019-2021) and currently serve as a member of the DiscourseNet board.

With a PhD from Magdeburg and Paris Est, Créteil, I became Juniorprofessor for the sociology of higher education at Mainz (2009-12) before moving to Warwick (2012-2019). I led ERC projects at Warwick and EHESS. Currently a Professor of Discourse, Applied Linguistics and Languages at Open University, I do research on academic and political discourses. My background is in applied linguistics and sociology.
