My primary focus is on language and social interaction, that is, how language is used in everyday practice to negotiate claims and identities. Who says what to whom and how it is said can provide insights into how beliefs are framed, the development of discursive styles, and intentions to act. We can see this in the provision of behavioral health services, accomplishing work in virtual teams, negotiating reference interactions between librarians and patrons, and creating public policy.
