Claudia Ortu
Claudia Ortu obtained her Ph.D. In English Linguistics from the University of Naples Federico II (Italy) in 2008 and is a researcher/lecturer in English Language and Linguistics at the University of Cagliari, in Italy. She worked with the South African Research Chair in Social Change for two years (2011-2012) before becoming an associate in 2013.
Her research consists in applying approaches such as Critical Discourse Analysis, Systemic Functional Linguistics, Multimodal Analysis and Argumentation Theory to social change and especially to the study of neoliberalism.
She is the author of “Industrial Relations and Conservative Governments in the Eighties” (2012), a monograph on the discourse of British governments against trade unions. She is currently working on a comparative analysis of British and South African discourses on trade unions.
