The Conference on “Reported speech and its markers: theoretical and pedagogical perspectives” is organised by the NaviLireResearch Group” (NRG), comprising researchers from different countries and with different mother tongues. The group has initiated a project which makes use of the principles of contrastive textual linguistics using Natural Language Processing (NLP) techniques. It is in this context that the NaviLire software package has been developed, enabling the identification and visualisation of the linguistic markers which characterise the various textual logics.

The linguistic markers focused on during the conference are the processes attested in various languages for reporting “other-speech”, either direct or indirect. We welcome papers that investigate reported speech markers in any language or discourse type. The aim is ultimately to contribute to the development of the taxonomy of annotations and the enrichment of the database of teaching exercises available in NaviLire, in order to assist the end-user in identifying and understanding the wide variety of forms that reported speech can take.
The presentations – which should be about 30 minutes in length – will be given in English, French or Italian, preferably with a Powerpoint presentation in one of the other two languages.
