This workshop will focus on ‘discourse and the political’ and will address the question from both theoretical and/or methodological points of view. Starting from discussions on discourse in contemporary political theory, notably a keynote talk from Yannis Stavrakakis, the workshop will discuss the possible relevance of interdisciplinary exchange in Discourse Studies.
While discourse theories have been hotly debated in political science, we want to ask how discourse theories can be brought together with the methodological approaches in social research. We therefore include a discussion of some of the methods typically used in discourse-based studies of political issues.
