📢 Call for Papers | Special Issue Announcement
As Editor-in-Chief of the International Journal of Multilingualism and Languages for Specific Purposes (IJMLSP), I am pleased to announce a forthcoming Special Issue:
From Multilingual Classrooms to EMI Lecture Halls: Examining the Pre-tertiary to Higher Education Language Transition
This special issue addresses a critical question at the intersection of multilingual education and English Medium Instruction (EMI):
How do multilingual experiences in pre-tertiary education shape students' access to, participation in, and success within EMI in higher education? Conversely, how do EMI policies reinforce or undermine the goals of multilingual education?
Across the world, educational systems increasingly promote multilingualism in schools, while universities continue to expand English-medium instruction. This raises important questions about policy coherence, educational equity, and linguistic justice across the educational continuum. Despite its significance, this transition remains insufficiently explored in the literature.
We invite original contributions that advance understanding of this important area through:
Empirical studies
Theoretical and conceptual papers
Comparative and international perspectives
Policy analyses
Case studies
Systematic literature reviews
Innovative pedagogical practices
Suggested themes include:
