I'm a PhD student from the University of Osnabrueck in Lower Saxony, Germany. In my doctoral thesis I analyse media discourses on state surveillance in the context of counterterrorism in Germany. Foucault's concept of governmetality therefore functions as an important starting point for the reflexion on governmental restriction of civil liberties as well as the adoption of legitimizing strategies for justifiying these restrictions. In discourse analysis my interests lie in the discursive manifestation of neoliberalism, hegemony in theory and praxis, Foucault-inspired analysis of power and elementary questions in the center of the ontology/epistemology/methodology triangular field.
