CFP Online Symposium: “Turkish-German Relations in Literary History from the Fifteenth Through the Twenty-First Century“

Languages of the Symposium: German and English

The Turkish-German Relations are based on a long history which can be traced back to the Crusades. Due to the long-term contacts and intensive cultural exchanges between the two cultures, specific stereotypes developed that became the subject of German and Turkish literature, films, and media throughout the ages.

With this CfP we address all colleagues who devote their research to various literary, cultural, and linguistic manifestations of German-Turkish relations.

We welcome papers in German and English on the following topics:

  • Historical Turkish Images in German Literature
  • Historical German Images in Turkish Literature
  • Multilingualism (German-Turkish) in German Literature
  • Multilingualism (German-Turkish) in Turkish Literature
  • Multilingualism (German-Turkish) in Turkish-German Movies
  • Images of Turks in Turkish-German Movies
  • Images of Germans Turkish-German Movies
  • Images of Germany and Germans in Turkish Media
  • Images of Turkey and Turks in German Media

Session Lenght: Papers will be presented within 15-20 minutes personally by the author and each session will end with 10 minutes of discussion.

Publication: Selected papers will be published in open access as a post-conference book, devoted to the topics discussed during the Congress.

Submission: Please send your paper proposals (max. 1 DIN-A-Size, Times New Roman 12, 2000 characters including spaces) till 28 October 2022 to the organizers of the symposium listed below.
